Terms of Service

1. Your account

You need an account to use Script Junky. You must give us a real name and a working email address, keep them accurate, and keep your password confidential. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account.

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent where you live) to use Script Junky. If you are using it on behalf of a company, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for that company.

2. What Script Junky does

Script Junky uses artificial intelligence to help you turn ideas, notes and audio recordings into written work — screenplays, chapters, blog posts, essays and more — and to generate images for covers and character references.

AI output is generated, not researched. It can be wrong, invented, or inconsistent. You are responsible for reviewing, fact-checking and editing anything you publish or submit. Script Junky is a tool, not an editor of record.

3. Who owns what you create

You own your inputs and, as between you and us, you own the outputs you generate. We claim no ownership over your writing.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Script Junky to:

• Create content that is illegal where you or your audience are located.
• Impersonate a real person in a way intended to deceive, or generate content presented as the genuine words of a real individual.
• Produce sexual content involving minors, or content that sexualises real people without consent.
• Harass, threaten, defame or incite violence against any person or group.
• Generate deliberate disinformation, or content designed to defraud.
• Resell, sublicense or white-label the service, or use it to build a competing product.
• Automate access outside our published API, scrape the service, or attempt to circumvent usage limits.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, disrupt or gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform.

5. Usage limits and fair use

Every plan has published limits. Plans marketed as "unlimited" are subject to the fair-use policy — normal individual use is never restricted, but automated or industrial-scale consumption may be throttled after we contact you.

We enforce limits when a generation starts, never mid-generation. Work already in progress always completes.

6. Payment, renewal and cancellation

Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or annually, through our payment processor. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel.

You can cancel at any time from your account. Cancellation stops future charges and your paid features continue until the end of the period you already paid for.

If a payment fails, we will retry and email you. If it is still unpaid after the grace period, your account moves to the Free plan. Your work is never deleted for non-payment.

We may change prices. If we do, existing subscribers keep their current price for the honoured period described on our pricing page, and we will always email you before a change affects you.

7. Refunds

Our refund policy is set out in full on the Refund Policy page and forms part of these terms.

8. Your content and our access to it

You grant us the limited licence we need to operate the service: to store your content, transmit it to the AI providers that process your requests, and display it back to you.

We do not sell your content and we do not use your content to train our own models. See the Privacy Policy for how third-party providers handle data.

9. Availability

We work hard to keep Script Junky online but we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance, and the AI providers we rely on can have outages of their own.

We may change or discontinue features. If we remove something significant that you paid for, we will tell you in advance and offer a fair remedy.

10. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, particularly the acceptable-use section. Where the situation allows, we will warn you first and give you the chance to fix it.

You can close your account at any time. On request we will delete your account and content as described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all implied warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose.

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits or lost opportunities.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will email registered users and update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
